PROJECTS and list of supplies
QUARANTINE AREA WITH STALL
We are planning on building a protected quarantine area safely located away from the other horses. They will still be able see everything happening on the farm and have plenty of room to move around but at a safe distance.
"RUNS" / PARTIALLY COVERED PADDOCK
These will serve as additional pens for equine. It gives them more room to move around while allowing us to dry lot and monitor their intake and output. This is necessary for rotating animals off the pastures for health of animal and preservation of the pastures, without having to put them in stalls inside the barn.
This would allow us to help up to 5 equines much more comfortably.
WATER DRAINAGE SOLUTION
The ground around the barn needs more dirt added and ideally re-graded and possibly have a French drain system put in place to allow the water to be removed from the property. This would increase the quality of life for the animals and allow vehicles access to the barn (vet, feed delivery, volunteers, etc.)
WELL TREATMENT
Having the well treated by a professional to increase the quality of the water for farm animals. Improved plumbing and installation of a proper filtration system.
VET STALL / WASH RACK
Controlled area with drainage, adequate insulation to guarantee water won’t freeze in winter, tie out, and lights. This will make a controlled area for vet visits, doctoring animals, and bathing.
NEW "MARE" PASTURE ✔️
After purchasing the neighboring land and barn from the founder of Second Chance Ranch, we had to complete a lot line adjustment which meant building a new pasture.
Thanks to many generous donors we were able to build a new pasture on an existing hay field, giving the horses a beautiful new field to flourish in.
